Tom Moore - Iowa Hawkeye (57-60)

Tom Moore was a quarterback for the Hawkeyes at the end of the decade in the 1950's. He immediately started coaching for the Hawkeyes as a Graduate Assistant during the 1961 & 1962 seasons. He then entered the Army for 2 years before returning to the coaching ranks at the University of Dayton in 1965. He held different jobs at Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and the University of Minnesota before entering the NFL coaching ranks. He has coached with the Steelers, the Vikings, the Lions and the Saints before being hired by the Indianapolis Colts. He was named Offensive Coordinator for the Colts in 1998 and has been there ever since. Today, his title is Senior Offensive Coordinator and he his in charge of one of the most prolific offenses in the league since he took over. He has been blessed with one of the best Quarterbacks to ever play the game in Peyton Manning. He has 32 years of coaching experience, with 22 as an Offensive Coordinator. He is one of only 23 NFL coaches to win a Super Bowl with more than one team. (Steelers, Colts)

Jonathan Hayes - Iowa Hawkeye (81-84)

After coming to the Iowa Hawkeyes as a linebacker in 1981, Hayes converted to the Tight End position. It proved to be the right decision when he was selected as a First Team All-American his Senior year and that paved the way for him to be selected in the 2nd Round of the 1985 NFL Draft. He was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs and played with them for 9 seasons including as a team captain at the end of his time there. He then played 3 more seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and finished with career totals of 153 receptions for 1718 yards and 13 touchdowns. He transitioned into coaching a couple years after retiring when he joined the Oklahoma Sooners coaching staff as an Assistant Coach in charge of Tight Ends and Special Teams from 1999-2002. He left the Sooners in 2003 for a job with the Cincinnati Bengals, and remains their Tight Ends Coach today.

Mike Devlin - Iowa Hawkeye (88-92)

Devlin was a force on the Offensive Line for the Hawkeyes during his time in Iowa City. He finished his career as a 2x First Team All-Big Ten Center including being selected as the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year while being a semi-finalist for the Outland Trophy his Senior season. He was drafted in the 5th Round of the 1993 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. His career spanned over 7 seasons between the Bills and the Arizona Cardinals, including as a starting lineman for the Cardinals for 2 seasons. He retired after the 1999 season and he then transitioned over to a Quality Control Coach for the Cardinals before eventually sliding into the Offensive Line Coach for the Cardinals. He became an Offensive Line Coach and served as the O-Line coach for the Toledo Rockets during the 2004-2005 seasons before being hired by the Jets as the Assistant Offensive Line Coach in the 2006 season. Devlin added the Tight Ends to his responsibilities for the 2008 season and currently stands as the New York Jets Tight Ends/Assistant Offensive Line Coach.

Bradley Fletcher - Iowa Hawkeye (04-08)

Fletcher did not start a lot of games at Iowa before his Senior Year, but he made his last one count. Bradley had the size and speed to impress many and make himself a 3rd Round selection by the St. Louis Rams in the 2009 NFL Draft. He became a starter in Week 5 of the season and was playing well before he tore his ACL in Week 7 against Indianapolis. He was placed on Injured Reserve while amassing 23 tackles for his rookie season.

Abdul Hodge - Iowa Hawkeye (01-05)

Hodge lined up at Middle Linebacker while teamed up with Chad Greenway on the outside to form one of the most fearsome duos ever to play linebacker at the University of Iowa. He left the Hawkeyes as a 2x First Team All-Big Ten Linebacker and was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 3rd Round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He was eventually released by the Packers after trying to come back from surgery on both knees. He was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals to their practice squad in 2008 but was promoted to the full roster after Week 6 before ending up on Injured Reserve again. So far in 2009 he has played in every game and accumulated 12 tackles and a forced fumble through Week 16.

Casey Wiegmann - Iowa Hawkeye (91-95)

Wiegmann left the Hawkeyes after being a consistent performer on their Offensive Line in the mid-90's. He went undrafted but through hard work and dedication has put together an NFL record for consecutive games started by active Center's. He has compiled the streak while playing for the New York Jets, the Chicago Bears, the Kansas City Chiefs and currently the Denver Broncos. His endurance was rewarded when he was selected as an alternate for the 2008 Pro Bowl. Currently his streak of games started sits at 142 through Week 16 of the 2009 season.

Bryan Mattison - Iowa Hawkeye (03-07)

Mattison was a stalwart on the Defensive Line while at Iowa, but went undrafted entering into the NFL. He was signed to the Baltimore Ravens practice squad and it was there that he was converted into an Offensive Lineman. He is currently on the Practice Squad listed as a Guard, but has seen no game action yet during the regular season.

Albert Young - Iowa Hawkeye (03-07)

After being a 3 year starter for the Hawkeyes at Running Back, Young is one of only 3 Hawkeyes to rush for over 3000 yards. He went undrafted but was signed to the Minnesota Viking Practice Squad in 2008. In 2009, he was in a battle for the 3rd Running Back position on the roster and beat out Ian Johnson to make the team. Unfortunately he is 3rd on the depth chart behind one of the best RB's in the league in Adrian Peterson. He played in the first 4 games of the 2009 season but was listed as inactive until Week 15, when he got his first touches of the season, rushing 2 times for 13 yards.

Scott Chandler - Iowa Hawkeye (03-06)

Chandler left Iowa as a 2nd Team All-Big Ten selection by the coaches. He was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the 4th Round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played in one game while he was with the Chargers but was cut before the 2009 season. He went to camp with the Dallas Cowboys and was signed to their practice squad. On December 23rd he was signed to the New York Giants roster.

Marcus Paschal - Iowa Hawkeye (02-06)

Paschal left Iowa ranked by some as one of the top 5 Free Safeties in the country. He unfortunately went undrafted but was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as a free agent. He was signed to their practice squad and was called up to play once an injury to fellow Hawkeye Sean Considine opened the door for him. He was out of football the following year and made it to the Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts before the Baltimore Ravens signed him to their Practice Squad in November of 2009. He was activated to the full roster on Decemer 19th.

Matt Kroul - Iowa Hawkeye (04-08)

Iowa's own Iron Man, Kroul left the Hawkeyes with a 50 Consecutive Games Started streak which is the longest in Iowa history. Matt went undrafted out of college but was signed as a free agent to the New York Jets. He did not make the team out of camp and was signed to their Practice Squad where he remains today.

Dallas Clark - Iowa Hawkeye (99-02)

Dallas Clark was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts as the 24th pick overall in the 2003 NFL Draft. Dallas came to Iowa as an undersized walk-on linebacker and transformed himself into a First Team All-Big Ten TE, consensus First Team All-American TE and John Mackey award recipient. Clark has experienced tremendous success in his young NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts. He is already widely considered one the best pass catching TE’s in NFL history and he certainly has the stats to back it up. Dallas currently stands with 349 receptions, 41 touchdowns and 4136 receiving yards in just 7 NFL seasons. In 2009, Clark has 93 receptions for 1054 yards and 10 touchdowns and continues to make circus catches such as these.

Career Accolades:
On December 28, 2008, Clark broke the Colts' franchise record, held by Hall of Famer John Mackey, for yards in a season by a tight end (848). He continues to raise that number and has 1054 yards in 2009.

On September 21, 2009, Clark had career high 183 receiving yards and a touchdown in just seven receptions at the Monday Night Football match up against the Miami Dolphins, this is also the fourth highest receiving yards ever for a Tight End in NFL history.

On November 8th, 2009 against the Houston Texans, Clark caught 14 balls; a career high for him.

On November 22, 2009 Clark broke the Colts’ franchise record, held by Hall of Famer John Mackey, for career receptions by a tight end (321). This number continues to rise and stands at 349.

In 2007, Clark broke the Colts’ franchise record for touchdown receptions in a season by a tight end (11).

Brandon Myers - Iowa Hawkeye (04-08)

Brandon Myers was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the 6th round of the 2009 NFL draft. Currently, Brandon stands as the third TE on the Raiders depth chart but has played in 10 games mostly on special teams and as a blocking TE. He has recorded 4 receptions for 19 yards which is pretty impressive considering the quarterback situation out in Oakland. But, the biggest play of the year for Brandon happened in Week 11 when he forced a fumble in the final minute of the game while on the kickoff team and allowed the Raiders the opportunity they needed to beat the Cincinnati Bengals. He now has 6 tackles and 2 forced fumbles on the season.

Sean Considine - Iowa Hawkeye (00-04)

Sean like so many other former Hawkeye standouts came to Iowa as a walk-on and red-shirt freshman. He caught the attention of Hawkeye coaches and fans through his hard work, hustle and game changing plays on special teams. Just as he did at Iowa throughout his college career, Sean demonstrated his talents and gained the respect of the Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff with his outstanding plays on special teams throughout his rookie season. Sean's special teams play paid off with huge dividends in his second year with the Philadelphia Eagles as it earned him a spot as the Eagles Strong Safety. He finished the year with 107 tackles (66 solo) and 26 special teams tackles, in addition to 1.5 sacks, one interception, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. He started at strong safety in the Eagles' wild card victory against the New York Giants, as well as the divisional playoff game against the New Orleans Saints, recording 13 tackles, five solo, during the playoffs. In 2009, Sean now starts at Strong Safety for the Jacksonville Jaguars. So far in 2009, Sean has battled through some injurues but has played in 10 of the 15 Jaguar games and has recorded 35 tackles and intercepted his first pass of the season against the Buffalo Bills in Week 11.

Eric Steinbach - Iowa Hawkeye (99-02)

Steinbach was a 2x First Team All-Big Ten & a First Team All-American as an offensive lineman with the Hawkeyes. Then, with the 33rd pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals selected Steinbach. That's how it all started for who many consider to be one of the better Left Guards in the game. His endurance has been impressive while he has started all but one game in his career. He left the Bengals via Free Agency and signed what was one of the biggest Offensive Line contracts in the league when he signed with the Cleveland Browns. In 2008, he was named the first alternate at Guard for the Pro Bowl. He is currently starting at Left Guard for the Browns and has started every game of the 2009 season as his endurance continues to reign supreme.

Seth Olsen - Iowa Hawkeye (04-08)

Olsen was a force to be reckoned with on the line at Iowa. Before his career ended he was selected as a First Team All-Big Ten and 2nd Team All-American. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 4th Round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He is currently listed as the backup Right Guard for the Broncos but has played in 2 games so far.

Aaron Kampman - Iowa Hawkeye (98-01)

After being a dominating force on defense for the Hawkeyes, Kampman was selected in the 5th Round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. He has been starting games since his rookie year and became an absolute monster at Defensive End for the Packers. He has been a 2-time Pro Bowler and a 2-time All-Pro in his career. He was near the league lead in sacks in 2006 & 2007, but was dealt a setback when the Packers changed their defensive scheme and he was forced to move to an outside linebacker position. Throughout the 2009 season he had collected 42tackles, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble before his season was cut short in Week 11 when he tore his ACL against the 49ers.

Mike Goff - Iowa Hawkeye (94-97)

Goff was selected First Team All-Big Ten his Senior season. He was selected in the 3rd Round of the 1998 NFL Draft with the 78th pick overall by the Cincinnati Bengals. He has played for the Bengals, the Chargers and this year went to the Kansas City Chiefs via Free Agency. He was one of the starting guards before he was placed on Injured Reserve and his 2009 season has ended.

Matt Roth - Iowa Hawkeye (01-04)

Roth was drafted by the Miami Dolphins as the 46th pick overall of the 2005 NFL Draft. Roth played in 16 games in a reserve role throughout his rookie season in 2005. On the year, he amassed 22 tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery Roth increased his production in 2006. In 16 reserve appearances, Roth had 37 tackles and 3.5 and three forced fumbles. Roth was then elevated to starting defensive end in 2007 and he in 13 games, including nine starts and made 44 tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble. In his fourth season in the NFL, the Dolphins last year moved Matt Roth from defensive end to outside linebacker, freeing him up to use his speed and track down quarterbacks, a la DeMarcus Ware. Despite battling through a chronically aching groin, Roth played in all 16 games and started 14. For the season, Matt had 53 tackles, which ranked fifth on the team, and had a career high 5.0 sacks for 27 yards in losses. Matt’s progress in Miami has hit a speed bump in 2009 as he failed his conditioning test at the beginning of training camp and was put on the Physically Unable to Perform List that shelved him for the first 6 weeks of the season. It has been a rocky road throughout 2009 as a result of that and upon returning he has made a minimal impact while collecting only 4 tackles through Week 11 of the 2009 season with the Dolphins. The rocky period ended on November 24th when he was waived by the Dolphins. He was picked up by the Cleveland Browns the following day. In his first game of the season for the Browns he recorded 7 tackles and a sack, showing that he still has the ability to be an impact player in the league. He now has 30 tackles with 4 sacks through Week 16 of the 2009 season.

Jared Devries - Iowa Hawkeye (95-98)

After being a dominating presence on the Hawkeye defensive line, Jared Devries finished his collegiate career with 3 First Team All-Big Ten selections and a 2nd Team All-American. He was selected 70th overall in the 3rd Round of the 1999 NFL Draft. It took him a couple years to make an impact but eventually became a starter in the 2006 season. He had a couple productive years but unfortunately tore his Achilles Tendon and was put on Injured Reserve for the 2009 season.

Colin Cole - Iowa Hawkeye (99-02)

Cole worked his way towards many accolades at Iowa, including First Team All-Big Ten and Second Team All-American. Unfortunately that was not enough to get him drafted but was signed as a free agent by the Minnesota Vikings. He made his debut with the Green Bay Packers in 2004 and played his way into a starting role before he left as a Free Agent in 2009 and headed West to the Seattle Seahawks. He is listed as the starting Right Defensive Tackle and has recorded 45 tackles through Week 16 while battling injury.

Ladell Betts - Iowa Hawkeye (97-01)

In the 2nd Round of the NFL Draft in 2002, the Washington Redskins selected Ladell Betts. One of the best running backs to play at Iowa, his career has not slowed down. He is the backup & 3rd down back for the Redskins this year, but because of an injury stepped into the starting role in Week 10. He did not disappoint with a 114 yards performance. Unfortunately in Week 11 against the Cowboys he was taken down awkwardly and tore his ACL & MCL to end his 2009 season. He finishes the year with 210 yards and 2 Touchdowns.

Jason Baker - Iowa Hawkeye (97-00)

Jason Baker, who graduated from the University of Iowa and still remains the all-time leader in punts and yardage for the Hawkeyes, went undrafted after his collegiate career. He made his NFL debut with the San Francisco 49ers but is now playing for his 5th team, the Carolina Panthers. He is considered a very reliable punter throughout the league, and his punting average of 44.3 yards is good for 14th best so far in the 2009 season.

Marshal Yanda - Iowa Hawkeye (05-06)

Yanda was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the 3rd Round of the 2007 NFL Draft with the 86th pick overall. He immediately made an impact starting 12 of the Ravens' 16 games. He currently sits as the backup Right Guard, but has played in all 15 games while starting 8 of them at both the Right Guard and Right Tackle position throughout 2009.

Many people will remember Yanda for this play right here

Charles Godfrey - Iowa Hawkeye (04-07)

Charles Godfrey was selected with the 4th overall pick in the 3rd round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. In 2008, Godfrey started in all 16 games as a rookie for the Panthers at Free Safety and recorded 61 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception and 1 Forced Fumble. In 2009, Godfrey battled an ankle injury early but has played in 11 games while starting 10 of them. He has recorded 43 tackles with 3 forced fumbles and 1 interception so far. If Godfrey can continue to improve and stay healthy he should find himself as a perennial starter in the NFL for many years to come.

Bob Sanders - Iowa Hawkeye (99-03)

Bob Sanders was drafted as the 44th pick overall in the 2nd round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Bob is widely known as one of the most dominant and exciting defensive players in the NFL. Bob has already experienced a tremendous amount of success in his short NFL career. His lists of accolades already include: 2 x All Pro, 2 x Pro Bowler, 2007 AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year, 2007 GMC Defensive Player of the Year, 2007 AFC Defensive Player of the Year, and Super Bowl Champion. Bob’s physical play and hard hitting has rewarded him generously with the accolades listed above, large endorsement deals, and a long term contract with the Indianapolis Colts but it has also cost dearly as Bob has struggled with more than his fair share of injuries. The 2009 season has been no different as he has only been able to play sparingly in 2 games this season recording 2 Tackles and 1 Interception. On November 7th, 2009 the undefeated Indianapolis Colts officially announced that Bob will miss the remainder of the 2009 season with a torn bicep tendon yet still his legend plays on.

• There is no theory of evolution; just a list of creatures Bob

Jonathan Babineaux - Iowa Hawkeye (00-04)

Although widely considered as under-sized while playing for the Hawkeyes, Jonathan Babineaux was a 2nd Round choice by the Atlanta Falcons when they selected him with the 59th pick overall. He has been a consistent contributor for the Falcons throughout his career. He is now in his 5th year and is currently the starting Right Defensive Tackle. This year his contribution has helped their defense with 42 tackles, 6 sacks and 2 forced fumbles through Week 16.

Ken Iwebema - Iowa Hawkeye (03-07)

Iwebema was feared as a Defensive End while with the Hawkeyes, and still shares a record for most Blocked Field Goals in a game with 2. When his college career came to an end he was drafted in the 4th Round with the 116th pick to the Arizona Cardinals. He currently is the 2nd string Defensive End for the reigning NFC Champs. He has played sparingly throughout the 2009 season while battling knee problems and has recorded 9 tackles and 2 sacks.

Robert Gallery - Iowa Hawkeye (99-03)

After coming to the Hawkeyes as a Tight End, Gallery turned into a monster on the Offensive Line. He destroyed the competition on the college level and Gallery left the Hawkeyes as a 2x First Team All-Big Ten player, a First Team All-American and the winner of the Outland Trophy as the best Interior Lineman in 2003. Robert was selected with the second overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. It seemed like a perfect fit for the behemoth with long hair and tattoos on the arms. Unfortunately, that was before the Raiders were realized as the train wreck that they are. After being moved across various different line positions early in his career, and having a new Offensive Line Coach each year, Gallery has found a home at Left Guard and performed well for the Raiders. So far in 2009, Gallery has struggled with injury after breaking his leg in week 2, but has returned to game action and started 6 games for the Raiders. Unfortunately he injured his back in the Week 13 game against the Steelers, and was placed on Injured Reserve to end his season.

Nate Kaeding – Iowa Hawkeye (00-03)

The Iowa City native, definitely left his mark for the Hawkeyes. He is currently the Iowa record holder for most points in a season, most points in a career, most Field Goals in a career, most consecutive Field Goals, most PAT's attempted in a season & a career, & most PAT's made in a season, in a career & consecutively. Needless to say, he deserved to win the Lou Groza Award in 2002 as the nation's best kicker. He also was a 2x All-American & a 2x First Team All-Big Ten. Kaeding followed that up by being selected 65th in the 3rd round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2007 and kicked a 21 yard game winner to give the AFC the win. His career long in the NFL is a 57 yarder against the Buccaneers in 2008. He is considered to be one of the most accurate in the league each year and during the 2009 season he became the NFL’s all-time accuracy leader, with his career accuracy of 87.0%. As of Week 16 he is 29-32 on Field Goals with a season long of 55 yards, and after having one blocked against the Raiders he is 48-49 on PAT's. In Week 15 he kicked the game winning 52 yard Field Goal to give the Chargers the victory over the Bengals.

Sean Sonderleiter - Iowa Hawkeye (00-04)

Sean Sonderleiter was selected by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the 10th round of the 2008 NBA Developmental League Draft. In the 2008-2009 season Sean appeared for the Mad Ants in 33 games and averaged 4.0 Points and 3.1 Rebounds per game.

Chad Greenway - Iowa Hawkeye (02 - 05)

While at Iowa, Chad Greenway teamed up with Abdul Hodge to form one of, if not the best linebacker duo ever to play for the Hawkeyes. He was a 2x First Team All-Big Ten and a 2nd Team All-American while at Iowa. Greenway was selected as the 17th pick overall in the 2006 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Unfortunately he tore his ACL in his first ever preseason game and missed his entire rookie season. He came back strong the next year and Chad finished the 2008 season with an impressive 5.5 sacks while leading the team in tackles with 115. Currently, Chad continues to flourish as the starting weak side linebacker and has already recorded 86 tackles, a forced fumble and 2 interceptions through Week 15 in 2009.

Shonn Greene - Iowa Hawkeye (05 - 08)

Shonn Greene lived the Cinderella story while at Iowa. Falling out of school with academic problems, he worked moving furniture while he got himself eligible to play again. He started his Junior year buried on the depth chart and emerged as the only Running Back in the country to rush for 100+ yards in every game of the season on his way to winning the Doak Walker Award in 2008. He was also a First Team All-Big Ten and First Team All-American in his junior year. He decided to leave school early and enter the NFL Draft where he was selected in the third round (65th overall) by the New York Jets. He started the season 3rd on the depth chart but moved up to 2nd after an injury opened the door for him to back-up Thomas Jones. So far he has rushed for 478 yards with 2 Touchdowns through Week 16 of the 2009 season.
